dc.description.abstract | Inflammation is a body’s protective response to injury or tissue injury caused
by the presence of pathogenic agents and foreign objects, physical trauma, or
harmful chemicals. Loquat leaf nanoherbs are used because of the presence of
compounds that have anti-inflammatory activity. The purpose of this study was to
determine the effect of giving loquat leaf nanoherbs on anti-inflammatory activity
and leukocyte profile in carrageenan-induced rats. This study used a sample of 25
healthy male white rats weighing 150-250 gr, which were divided into 5 groups. The
positive control group was the Na-diclofenac suspension, the negative control group
was the 0.5% Na-CMC suspension and the loquat leaf nanoherbal treatment group
was 125, 150, and 175 mg/kgBW body weight. The anti-inflammatory activity test
was carried out using the paw edema method using a digital pletismometer to see the
ability of the loquat leaf nanoherbal in inhibiting the volume of inflammatory
swellings formed and blood tests were carried out at the Regional Health Laboratory
of North Sumatra Province. The results showed that the administration of loquat leaf
nanoherbs at doses of 125, 150, and 175 mg/kgBW had significantly different antiinflammatory
activity with the negative control group, but not significantly different
with the positive control group. The Nanoherbs with a dose of 175 mg/kgBW gave a
better anti-inflammatory effect because it was close to the positive control value at 6
hours with inflammation percentage of 11.19% and inflammation inhibition
percentage of 77.34%. Loquat leaf nanoherbs can reduce the total number of
leukocytes and can affect the type of leukocyte count in rats, especially neutrophils
and lymphocytes, but does not affect at the number of other types leukocytes, namely
monocytes, eosinophils and basophils | en_US |
