Research about “The Diversity And Distribution Of Fish In Upper Course Of Asahan
River Porsea” was investigated in January 2009. Purposive Random Sampling
Method was applied in choosing place sampling station. Samples were taken from 5
stations and in each station was done 30 times restarting. Samples were taken by
using netss. Identifiying was done in Natural Resources Management and
Environment Laboratory, Biology Department, Mathematics and Natural Sciences
Faculty of North Sumatera University.
The results of research was found fish belong to Osteicthyes class, consist of
4 order, 8 family, 12 genera and 12 spesies. The highest population density, relative
density and relative frequency was presented by Gambusia sp. for each value 9,505
ind/m2
, 57,891% and 40%. The lowest population density and relative density was
presented by Osteochilus sp. namely 0,014 ind/m2
and 0,086% and the lowest relative
frequency was presented by Clarias batrachus, Cyprinus carpio, Osteochilus sp. and
Oxyeleotris marmorata with value 10%. The highest index of diversity was found 2nd
station namely 2,109 and the lowest index of diversity was found 4th station namely
1,929. The highest index of equitability was found 5th namely 0,941 and the lowest
index of equitability was found 2nd station namely 0,849. The pattern of distribution
from each spesies of fish was categorized as clumped and reguler. From the
correlation analisys showed that light penetration gave positif correlation (same
direction) with index of fish diversity and COD
