A Study on “Nematicidal Test of Endophyte Fungi of Rice (Oryza sativa L.) Against
Root-knote Nematode (Meloidogyne spp.) has been conducted in Microbiology
Laboratory, Biology Department, Mathematic and Natural Science Faculty and
Phytopathology Laboratory, Agriculture Faculty, North Sumatera University, from April
until August 2009. Ten endophyte fungi were succesfully cultured on Potato Dextrose
Agar (PDA) medium. They consisted of five genera, such as, Aspergillus, Monascus,
Penicillium, Cochliobolus, and Mucor. On In vitro test result showed that two potential
endophyte fungi to killed juvenile of Meloidogyne spp., that were J1 Monascus sp. about
45% and Aspergillus sp1 about 39,33%. But on In vivo test result showed the potential
endophyte fungi to reduced the number of root-knote were Monascus sp. and Mucor sp.
In parametre of the number of final population and reproduction factor, Monascus sp. and
Aspergillus sp1 were the most potential. On parametre of plant growth the most potential
endophyte fungi were Aspergillus sp6 on weight of plant and length of root, and J3
Aspergillus sp2 on posture of plants. The ability of endophyte fungi suspected by the
effect of toxin metabolites and by trapped mechanism of endophytes fungi hiphae.
