dc.description.abstract | Research on Identification and prevalence of ectoparasites on nila’s (Oreochromis
niloticus) in the swamp and pond Paluh Merbau Percut Sei Tuan North Sumatra
conducted in Balai Karantina Ikan I Medan I on July to September 2014, aims to
determine the types of ectoparasites that attack nila in ponds and swamps Paluh
Merbau Percut Sei Tuan, as well as compare the prevalence of ectoparasites from
both locations. Sampling was carried out one at random as many as 10 nila’s at
each location. Samples of nila in part estimated attacked ectoparasites (gills, body
mucus, fins mucus, and eyes mucus) by means of scrapping, and observed under a
microscope. The results showed three types of ectoparasites namely, Dactylogyrus
sp., Caligus sp, and Trichodina sp. and showed that the prevalence of
ectoparasites on nila’s (O. niloticus) is the highest in the swamp Paluh Merbau
Percut Sei Tuan is Dactylogyrus (gill 80%), Calligus sp. (Mucus body 60%), and
Trichodina sp. (Mucus body 20%), whereas in ponds Paluh Merbau Percut Sei
Tuan is Dactylogyrus sp. (Gill 70%, and 10% body mucus). In the eyes and fin
mucus of nila’s in the swamp and in the ponds, there were no attacks
ectoparasites. | en_US |
