Abstract

Study of Orchids in Batang Toru West Block Forest KabupatenTapanuli Utara, Provinsi Sumatera Utara had been done from August until December 2014. The study was aimed to observe species of orchids and their distribution. Location of the study was determined by survey method. 82 species of orchid were found, which were included in 35 genera (59 epiphytes, 20 terrestrials, and 3 saprophytes). Orchids were dominantly distributed in height of 700-1000 masl (76 species were found) and 6 species were found in height of >1000 dpl.
