dc.description.abstract | Research about the characteristics of the development of nestling Great egret
(Egretta alba) and Small egret (Egretta garzetta). This research was conducted in
the Fishpond of Tanjung Rejo Region North Sumatra On Month October 2014 to
January 2015. This study used direct observation with a preliminary study. Geat
eget samples (n=13) and Little eget (n=14) with routine observations (every 3
days), tiller measured weight (g), length Culmen, tarsus, ulnar (cm) to bring down
chicks from the nest starting from hatching chicks until the puppy can not be
arrested again at seedling age 21 days. Both nymphs egets have similar
morphology, the difference lies in the beak color. Morphometric differences
between the two species are found in body size, wing length, leg length. Both
have size and nest materials were different. Great egret nest compiled using nest
building blocks are more varied (22 types) than Little eget (13 types). Selection of
trees and laying nests of both species differ, great egrets choose a tree that is high
(high 7-8 m and diameter 27,5 - 34,75 cm) and put the nest at the top of the tree
canopy while Little egret choose a strong and lush trees in (high 5-7 m and
diameter 24-63 cm) and laying nests in the tree-covered canopy (Subcanopy). The
eggs of both species have different long, size and weight. The eggs Great egret
have PxL (48,50 x 36,65 mm) and the incubation period is 26-29 days, while for
Little egret have PxL(43,30 x 34,25 mm) and the incubation period is 21-23 days
for a length spawn 1-4 day. The results showed differences in seedling gowth
characteristics of both types of herons. With the same type of seedling
development is Semialtricial. | en_US |
