Estimasi Kepadatan Orangutan Sumatera (Pongo Abelii) Berdasarkan Jumlah Sarang di Bukit Lawang Taman Nasional Gunung Leuser Sumatera Utara

Abstract

A study on “Estimation Of Orangutan Sumatera Population (Pongo abelii) Density based on Numbers Of Nest In Bukit Lawang Taman Nasional Gunung Leuser” has been conducted from August until September 2009. The research purposed to estimate orangutan populatin density based on numbers of nest. The research has conducted by Line Transeck Methode. The result has got 225 nest with orangutan population about 0,0349 individu/km2 or 3,484 individu/Ha. The nest were dominated by Class III (aged about 4 month) about 50,66%. Position of nest were dominated by position 1 (located in the premier branches) about 39,11%. Depend on altitude of nest were most found in 15-20 m about 27,56%. The nest were found in 10 family of flora and dominated by family Dipterocarpaceae and Lauraceae about 29,17%.
