“Taxonomic Study of Zingiberaceae in Sikundur Area Leuser National Park Langkat
Regency of North Sumatera” was studied from March to July 2011 using “Survey
Method”. There are ten (10) genera and 18 species of Zingiberaceae recorded which
are primarily classified based on their habitats, rhizomes and inflorescences with the
most dominant species from Etlingera. All species are classified into two group based
on phenetic analysis of morphological characters with the morphological similarity
ranges from 51 to 91%. The first group consist of three species (Globba pendula,
Boesenbergia sp1. dan Boesenbergia sp2.) with morphological similarity ranges from
68,7 to 91%, the second group consist of 15 species (Amomum dimorphum, A.
lappaceum, Amomum sp., Curcuma sp., Elettaria sp., Elettariopsis sp., Etlingera
coccinea, E. littoralis, E. triorgyalis, Etlingera sp., Hornstedtia leonurus, H.
tomentosa, Plagiostachys bracteolata, Zingiber multibracteatum, Zingiber sp.) with
the morphological similarity ranges from 60 to 91%.
