dc.description.abstractOne of the important process in making pulp was the cooking process of the chip. The concentration of active alkali that contained of white liquor that used in cooking process can be influence the quality of pulp produced. Because the quantity of active alkah that use has very importance role in process losses of lignin when cooking process is goon. To know the lignin concentration which still there afterwards the cooking process be knowing by determine kappa number. Determine of kappa number done by titration methode by using of sodium thiosulfat. Based on the result of analysis we detected the concentration of active alkali in the amount of 97,4 g/l so kappa number in the amount of 10,9 on the other side the concentration active alkali more be large that is 106,3 g/l so kappa number will be decrease that is 9,0. So, if the concentration of active alkali in the great quantity so kappa number will be decrease. But if the concentration of active alkali in a little quantity so kappa number will be increase.en_US
