“The diversity of macrozoobenthos in Bah Bolon River Regency of Simalungun
Provinceo of North Sumatera” has been observed and it was identified in Management
Laboratory of Natural Resource and Environment, Study Program of Biology, Faculty
of Mathematic and Natural Science, University of North Sumatera, Medan. The
sample was taken from four different areas using Purposive Random Sampling
method. The diversity of macrozoobenthos which is found such as Annelida,
Arthropoda, and Molusca filums and devided in 20 genus. Genus Cyrnellus has the
highest density wich is found in disposal waste of cigarette factory location with 87,40
ind/m2 and genus Hellobdella has the lowest density wich is found in agricultural
location with 0,73 ind/m2
. The disposal waste of ice factory location has the highest
diversity index of macrozoobenthos with 1,94 and the agricultural location has the
lowest diversity index of macrozoobenthos with 1,20. The free area from humans
activities has the highest uniformity index with 0,74 and the agricultural location has
the lowest uniformity index with 0,53. The psychochemical factors such as
temperature, intensity of lights, DO, BOD5, COD, and sanuration of oxygen have a
strong correlation with diversity of macrozoobenthos.
