Research about “ The diversity of macrozoobenthos in Kuala Tanjung seas area
subdistrict of Medang Deras District of Batubara” has been observed. The sampling
was conducted from four station of observation. The sampling method is Purposive
Random Sampling and then identified in Management Laboratory of Natural Resource
and Environment, Study Program of Biology, Faculty of Mathematic and Natural
Science, University of North Sumatera, Medan. The research indicated that 34 genera
of macrozoobenthos consisting of Annelida, Arthropoda, and Molusca. Genera
Anadara was found at tourism area station have the highest density as big as 85,19
ind/m2
. Aequipecten, Polinices, Donax, and Pholas are the lowest density as big as
0,62 ind/m2
. Mangrove area station has the highest diversity index (H’) as big as 2,76,
as for at estuary area station has the highest diversity index (H’) as big as 1,37. The
disposal of waste factory station has the highest uniformity index (E) as big as 0,83, as
for uniformity index (E) at tourism area station as big as 0,52. Light intensity, light
penetration, and organic substrat have a strong correlation to diversity index (H’).
