Medicinal Plants in Siranggas Wildlife Area Pakpak Bharat Regency of North
Sumatra has been studied from May to July 2011. Observation area of 20 x 50 m
determined by purposive sampling with a total of 10 subplots 10 x 10 m in size.
Information types of medicinal plants was collected by direct interviewing the
traditional healer (tabib) in village Kecupak II, and sampling of medicinal plants using
the survey method. There were 49 species of medicinal plants classifying into 33
families, which are Pteridophyta with two species and Spermatophyta with 47 species.
The most abundant famili for class Monocotyledoneae is Arecaceae and
Zingiberaceae, while for class Dicotyledoneae is found on Fabaceae, Piperaceae, and
Rubiaceae. The total of medicinal plants within plot is 22 species with 463 individu.
The highest number of individu is found on Piper umbellatum, Eupatorium odoratum
and Bambusa sp., with the number 138, 80, and 75 respectively.
