dc.description.abstractThe effect of anti microbial clove methanol extract activity on bacterial caused caries, Streptococcus mutans, has been conducted in Microbiology Laboratory, Biology Department, Faculty Of Mathematic and Natural Sciences, North Sumatra University from April to September 2008. Kirby-bauer disk diffusion method was used as a method to anti microbial assay. Treatmens used was crude clove methanol extract concertation which were 0, 20, 40, 60 and 80%, where us as comparison antibiotic amoxicillin 250 mg/ml was used in this experiment. The results showed that clove methanol extracts have an effect on the growth of Streptococcus mutans, the lowest anti microbial activity was shown by 20% with inhibition zone was 6. 59 mm, while highest anti microbial activity was shown by 80% with inhibition zone was 11. 77 mm, the results were slightly lower than the inhibition zone caused by amoxicillin wich was 24. 66 mm.en_US
