The aimed of this research were to investigate the plankton diversity in Lau
Kawar Lake and to find the relation among the values of physics and chemical factors
of water with plankton diversity index. This research had been done on April 2008 at
4 sampling stations. The sampling was done from 3 different depths, which are 0 m,
1,5 m and 3 m for each station. Plankton net was used to filter water samples which
was containing planktons. The identification result showed that from all station the
highest density index is goes to genus Sphaerocystis at station I with value 717,18
ind/l. The lowest density index is genus Arcella at station II with value 1,27 ind/l.The
highest value of index diversity is 2,20 at station II, and the lowest one is 1,82 at
station IV. From all depths the highest density index is goes to genus Glenodium with
value 915,91 ind/l. in 0 m depth and the lowest density index is taken hold by some
genus, which are Trachelomonas in 0 m depth, Metis, Pediastrum, Bumilleriopsis in
1,5m depth, Metis and Spirogyra in 3 m depht with value 1,27 ind/l for each genus.
The highest value of index diversity is 2,04 in 1,5 m and the lowest one is 1,86 in 0 m
depth. According to the analysis of Pearson Correlation, Dissolved Oxygen and
Oxygen Saturation have significant correlation to the diversity of plankton. While
according to statistical test-Anava (Variance Analysis) there’s no significant
difference of plankton diversity among each station, and among depth are not either.
