Perilaku Harian Kuntul Besar ( Egretta alba ) di Kawasan Pantai Percut Sei Tuan Kabupaten Deli Serdang

Abstract

The result from this research shows there were three daily behavior of Egretta alba which consist of individual behavior by 8 sub behavior (behavior of maintanance, body freshment, take a rest, sunning, drink, stretching, bath and defecate), than social behavior by 3 sub behavior (behavior of attack, teritorial and agonistik), and feeding behavior by 3 sub behavior (stand or stalk the prey, disturb and chase the prey and cathing the prey underwater). The individual behavior which mostly to be done by Egretta alba were treatment of maintanance (222 times), body freshment (219 times), take a rest (142 times), sunning (68 times), drink (41 times), mine while, the each individual behavior were very seldom to be done by Egretta alba , such as stretching (28 times), take a bath (5 times) and defecate (4 times). Social behavior which mostly to be done by Egretta alba were attack (37 kali) and which it’s seldom to be done were agonistic (8 times), territorial (5 times). The feeding behavior which mostly to be done by Egretta alba were stand or stalk the prey (367 times), catching the prey underwater (168 times) and disturb and chase the prey (126 times). Reference to the observation times, at the morning ( 06.00-10.00 WIB) and the daytime (10.00-14.00 WIB) the daily behavior of Kuntul were dominanted by feding behavior , stand or stalk the prey and the individual behavior that was maintenance. In the evening (14.00-18.00 WIB) the result shows behavior of Egretta alba were dominated by individual behavior, such as behavior of take a rest, maintanance, and stretching. For the social behavior (attack, teritorial and agonistik) were very rare to be done by Egretta alba.
