Pengaruh Ekstrak Segar Limut (Hydrilla Verticillata L.) Danau Toba terhadap Kadar Kolesterol Total dan Gambaran Mikrostruktur Aorta Mencit (Mus Musculus L.)

Abstract

Research has been conducted to determine the effect of fresh extracts limut (Batak Toba’s language) to total cholesterol levels and the thickness of aorta wall mice fed with diets egg yolk. Research using completely randomized design (CRD) with 6 treatments and 4 replications. P1 (normal control) without treatment and P2 (cholesterol control) were given only the egg yolk diet for 28 days. P3 , P4 , P5 and P6 were given egg yolk diet for 28 days and on day 8 to day 21 were given the fresh extracts limut with a concentration in the order of 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%. The results showed that the fresh extract limut with a concentration 50%, 75% and 100% can reduce total cholesterol levels for two weeks (P<0.05). These results also support the results the thickness of aorta wall mice parameter that the fresh extract limut were able to reduce the thickness of the aortic wall will be closer to normal mice (P<0.05). However, provision of dietary egg yolk and the fresh extract limut does not affect the body weight of mice. The conclusion of this research is the fresh extract limut can lower total cholesterol levels and reduce the thickness of aorta wall mice will be closer to normal.
