dc.description.abstractPeroxide value is the index of the amount of fat or oil which has experienced oxidation. In order determine the peroxide value of the product of C1499, it is added with 30 ml mixture of acetone and chloroform (3:2) and nitrogen gas will be drawn to the system for 2 minutes to replace the air in the Erlenmeyer flask. Afterwards, 1 ml of saturated KI is added and covered the shook for 1 minute before it’s put in the dark room for 5 minutes. Afterwards, 200 ml of distilled water is added, then. It is titrated with 0,01 N of Na2S2O3 until it’s pale yellow. Amilum is then added. As indicator until the solution turns purple black, before it and titrated with 0,01 Na2S2O3 until it turns clear white. The determination of peroxide value is then conducted and the result of the peroxide value at PT. SOCI Medan is 1 mg.eq.en_US
