Corelation of structure of fish community to the water quality in Asahan river
regency of Toba Samosir at North Sumatera has been studied. Three different
study site was settle using purposive sampling method based on activities. Ten
genera of fishes, classifying into three orders (Cypriniformes, Perciformes,
Siluriformes) and five families (Cyprinidae, Balitoridae, Mastacembellidae,
Bagridae, Sisoridae) were recorded from research location. The highest diversity
is found at first location with the number 0,157 ind/m2
and the lowest one is found
at the third location with the number 0,013 ind/m2
. The highest diversity index
recorded from second location with the number 1,554; while the lowest is found
in the the first location with the number 0,487. Nitrat, phosfat and light intensity
are evidently correlated to the diversity of fishes.
