A study about in vitro antimicrobial activity of etanol extract of cherry (Muntingia calabura
Linn.) leaves against Streptococcus mutans, Escherichia coli, and Candida albicans has been
done. The experimental design was completely randomized with five levels of ethanol extract of
cherry leaves concentrations: 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25% and three type of pathogen: S. mutans,
E. coli and C. albicans. The diffusion disc method used for measuring of zone of inhibition. The
data analysis technique used is the technique of Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) followed by
Duncan test. The result showed that ethanol extract of cherry leaf inhibited the growth of all
tested microbs. The higher concentration of extract used greater inhibitory effect obtained against
all patogen microba. The highest zone of inhibition was 20 mm at 25% ethanol extract against C.
albicans, and the lowest zone of inhibition was 7,5 mm at 5% ethanol extract against E. coli.
