One of the serious problems of intensive shrimp of aquaculture is the
accumulation of shrimp feed at the bottom of shrimp farms. One content of
shrimp feed is lipid. Bacillus cereus DA 5.2.3 was expected to degrade lipids in
shrimp feed at different concentrations and salinities. Early detection of lipase was
conducted by the addition of fish oil and methyl red. It was then continued by the
test of lipase activity which was measured by the levels of free fatty acids by the
method titimetri. Lipase activity was detected in medium of fish oil and the
highest activity of lipase was found at 0‰ salinity and shrimp feed with a value of
1 g/ 5 ml with the free fatty acid content of 0.25%. However, lipase from Bacillus
cereus 5.2.3 DA was active in the range of salinity of shrimp aquaculture with the
free fatty acid level around 0.1%.
