Have analyzed the levels of ammonia (NH3-N) and nitrate (NO3-N) of river water in the laboratory Regional Environmental Impact Management Agency of North Sumatra (BAPEDALDASU) with a portable spectrophotometer DR/2010. Where the wavelength is 655 nm for ammonia and nitrate is the wavelength to 500 nm and the results of measurement expressed in units of mg/L. From the results of the analysis obtained by concentration of ammonia in the sample 1 was 0.05 mg/L, sample 2 was 0.02 mg/L, and the sample 3 was 0.04 mg/L. and levels of nitrate in sample 1 was 1.8 mg/L, sample 2 was 1.0 mg/L, and the sample 3 was 0.6 mg/L. Results of the analysis showed that the content of ammonia and nitrate in river water was still below water quality standards established by the Indonesian Government Regulation No. 82 of 2001. Where the maximum levels for ammonia (NH3-N) is equal to 0.5 mg/L and levels of nitrate (NO3-N) is equal to10mg/L.en_US
