Vegetable oil is one of the alternative materials that can be used for the manufacture of polyols that will eventually be used in the production of polyurethane. The vegetable oil is corn oil triglycerides percentage of 98,6 percent. And therein is 86 percent unsaturated fatty acids. Formation of polyols made with two stages, epoxidation and hydroxylation. In phase epoxidation performed using 90% formic acid, H2O2 and H2SO4 was heated at 600C for 4 hours. And phase hydroxylation using 1:8 ratio of methanol and isopropal heated at 5000C for 2 hours. Analysis of iodine numbers, numbers oxirane oxygen, hydroxyl done by titration and FT-IR analysis. This study aims to determine whether corn oil can be used as an alternative to vegetable oil polyol as raw material for the manufacture of polyurethane. The results showed Iodine number, oxirane consecutive numbers of EMJ are 6,9275g Iod/100gsample and 0,1972%. PMJ hydroxyl number is 346,9731 mg KOH / g sample. From the results obtained it can be concluded that corn oil can be used as an alternative raw material that is rigid polyurethane synthesis.en_US
