dc.description.abstractHas conducted a comparative study of effectiveness using Poly Aluminium Chloride (PAC) and alum to maintain pH and turbidity in the raw water (river water) used by water treatment instalation of PDAM Tirtanadi Hamparan Perak. Poly Aluminium Chloride (PAC) usage concentration and alum were compared in the raw water has a pH 6,90 and initial turbidity 187 NTU are respectively 17 ppm, 19 ppm, 21 ppm, 23 ppm, and 25 ppm ,then stirred with agiator contained in jart-test equipment with a rotation spedd of 140 rppm for 5 minutes, then the speed is reduced to 50 rpm for 10 minutes, then agiator stopped so formed floc-floc settles after the treated water allowed to stand for 20 minutes. Turbidity measured by the turbidimeter and pH measured with a comparator pH. The results showed that for Poly Aluminium Chloride (PAC) concentration in the raw water (river water) 17 ppm, 19 ppm, 21 ppm, 23 ppm and 25 ppm obtained pH and turbidity respectively : 6,70, 0,57 NTU ; 6,70, 0,38 NTU; 6,70, 0,42 NTU ; 6,70, 0,59 NTU dan 6,60, 0,30 NTU. And to the use of alum concentration in the raw water (river water) 17 ppm, 19 ppm, 21 ppm, 23 ppm, and 25 ppm obtained pH and turbidity respectively : 6,90, 5,76 NTU; 6,80, 6,71 NTU; 6,80, 6,52 NTU; 6,80,5,68 NTU dan 6,80, 4,47 NTU. When compared between pH and turbidity of the obtained results with pH and turbidity of drinking water standard,used the Poly Aluminium Chloride (PAC) coagulant is more effective to purity water.en_US
