Research about “The Diversity of Macrozoobenthos in Asahan River North
Sumatera” was implemented on May 2013. Using Purposive Random Sampling
method to determine 5 research stasions with different activities. The aimed of the
research was to know the diversity of Macrozoobenthos in Asahan River, North
Sumatra and its corelation with the fisic and chemical factor of water. The result
showed that there were 40 genera of macrozoobenthos within 3 phylum, 5 class,
15 ordo and 39 family. Genus Hydrospysche had the highest density with 223,4
ind/m2 found at station 1, and the lowest density were genus Limnophila, Pelocoris
and Calopteryx with 1,23 ind/m2. The highest diversity index (H’) was 2,53 in
station 2 and the lowest was 1,37 in station 1. The highest uniformity index (E)
was 0,93 in station 2 and the lowest was 0,48 in station 1. Result of correlation
analysis showed that temperature correlated very strongly with macrozoobenthos
diversity index (H’).
