Chemical oxygen demand (COD) is the amount of oxygen required to oxidize
organic substances present in 1 liter of water samples, in which the oxidizing agent
K2Cr2O7 is used as a source of oxygen. Analysis COD based on most of all organic
material can be oxidised to become carbondioksida and water, the constructively
K2Cr2O7 in acid solution. From analysis, COD concentrate at wastewater of Refined
Sugar Industry Medan Wastewater at first week : Inlet 17.956,80 mg/L, outlet :
5.036,16 mg/L, second week : Inlet 24.148,80mg/L, outlet : 7.925,76 mg/L, third
week : Inlet 25.180,80 mg/L, outlet : 8.256,00 mg/L, fourth week : Inlet 19.608,00
mg/ L, and oulet : 6.357,12 mg/ L.
