The present study describe The diversity of macroalgae along the beach of
Lahewa, the regency of North Nias to observe the diversity of macroalgae species
and its correlation with marine physical-chemical factors. The research was
conducted Line Transect method, took about 1 m of deepth along the beach,
which determined into 3 station and did 3 times of sampling on each station. The
result recorded 17 species of macroalgae were found, consist of 3 classes, 10
ordos and 11 families. The highest density of macroalgae among of all the
research station was Halimeda opuntia, found in station 3 and the lowest one was
Hypnea choroides found in station 1. The highest diversity index found in station
2 which 2,396 on point and the lowest one in station 1 which 0,953 on point. The
highest similarity index found in station 3 which 0,186 on point and and the
lowest one on station 1 which 0,158 on point. Temperature, DO, BOD5, pH, light
penetration, nitrat, light intensity and current sea were strongly corellated with the
diversity of macroalgae.
