dc.description.abstract | An experiment in Sibiru-biru River has been conducted to know plankton diversity, physical and chemical parameters of water in relation to the diversity of plankton. Plankton diversity assessed through “purposive random sampling” at five locations according to community activities in the area. Phytoplankton was classified into 4 classes,16 families and 22 genera. Zooplankton was classified into 6 classes,7 families and 7 genera. The highest abundance is recorded from the first station with the number 5,306.122 ind/L, while the lowest is found at the fourth station with the number 2,587.714 ind/L. For the diversity index, the highest is recorded from the forth station (2.842),while the lowest is found at the first station (2.548). The highest of equitability index was 0.966 at the second station and the lowest was 0,919 at the first station. Chemical and physical parameters (temperature and dissolved oxygen) are evidently correlated with the plankton diversity. | en_US |
