The research on potential of biosurfactant producing bacteria from Belawan Sea, Sumatera Utara in degrading gliphosate based herbicide in soil has been conducted. Ten biosurfactant producing isolates that have been isolated previously from Belawan Sea, Sumatera Utara were able to use glyphosate as the sole carbon source in the medium Bushnell-Hass Broth (BHB) containing 2% of Round Up. Two isolates namely NF1 and NF9 were selected based on cell growth, biosurfactan activity and biosurfactan production to degrade glyphosate in soil during 15 days of incubation. The glyphosate residue were analyzed using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) on day 0, 5th, 10th and 15th. The results showed that non sterilized soil treatment (K+) decrease 91% of glyphosate concentration. While soil treatment with the addition of isolate NF1 was able to decrease the concentration of glyphosate in soil up to 58,92% and isolate NF9 up to 75%.en_US
