“Daily Behavior Of Cattle Egret (Bubulcus ibis L.) In Mangrove, Tanjung
Rejo, Percut Sei Tuan, Deli Serdang, North Sumatera” has been done is in
March 2016 until June 2016. This research is backgrounded by the survival ability
of cattle egret in competition among children in nest. Thebehavior observation of
child were determine the survival of this species in the future. This study aims to
determine the daily behavior of cattle egret (Bubulcus ibis). This reaserch was
done by using Purposive Random Sampling Method. Observations were done for
five weeks at 7 am to 6 pm every day. The result found that there are three types
of daily behavior of childern of cattle egret that is individual behavior, feeding
behavior, and social behavior. Individual behavior consist of 6 sub behavior (self comforting behavior, maintening behavior (body comfort), resting, sunbathing,
stretching, and defecation. Social behavior consist of 3 sub behavior (attack
behavior, agonistik, territorial), and feeding behavior of 3 sub behavior (eating of
regurgitate in nest, taking of regurgitate from parent beaks, grabbing of food
directly of the parents beaks).There were three behavior that often performed i.e
self-comfort (81 times), attack (17 times), and eat of regurgitate in nest (28 times).
Self-maintenance was dominant behavior of children of cattle egret based on three
observation times that is morning (07.00-10.00 am), afternoon (10.00-14.00 am),
and evening (14.00-18.00 pm than another behavior.
