Data and information of leafy liverworts’ diversity in Sumatera, especially North
Sumatera, their study are still less reported and conducted. Research attempted to
collect leafy liverworts from Protected Forest of Simancik I, regency of Deli
Serdang, North Sumatera and to describe their morphological characters. Sample
of liverworts were taken by surveying along study tracks. Twenty two spesies of
leafy liverworts belonging to 12 genera and 6 families were found in this study
which consist of: 1 species of Frullaniaceae, 11 species of Lejeuneaceae, 2
species of Lepidoziaceae, 2 species of Lophocoleaceae, 4 species of
Plagiochilaceae and 2 species of Radulaceae. The highest diversity of leafy
liverworts was from Lejeuneaceae which consist of 7 genera: Lejeunea,
Archilejeunea, Lopholejeunea, Dendrolejeunea, Ptychantus, Mastigolejeunea dan
Thysananthus while the lowest diversity was from Frullaniaceae, constituted by
only one species.
