Pengaruh Ekstrak Metanol Biji Pare (Momordica charantia L.) dan Depo Medroksi Progesteron Asetat (DMPA) terhadap Histologi Hepar Tikus (Rattus norvegicus L.) Jantan Strain Wistar

Abstract

The aim of this research is to know the effect of combination of Depo Medroxy Progesterone Acetate (DMPA) and methanol extract seeds of bitter melon (Momordica charantia L.) to hepatic histology, hepatic weight, hepatic morphology and rat body weight (Rattus norvegicus L.) male wistar strain. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 5 control groups and 5 treatment groups with DMPA injection 1.25 mg /rat. DMPA was administered only 1 time and interval of time giving methanol extract of bitter melon seedsfor 8 weeks, each giving time; 0, 4, 8, 12, 16 weeks and giving methanol extract of bitter melon seeds 50 mg / 100 g body weight / day. In the 12th week until the 16th week is a recovery period which is not given methanol extract of bitter melon seeds. The observation of hepatic weight did not change significantly (p> 0.05), and in liver morphology showed color change in P2 with pale liver and red spotted liver (p> 0,05). The observation on rat body weight showed no significant effect (p> 0,05). The result of statistical analysis on liver histology of control group and treatment group increased in week 8 of K2 group by 7.59% and P2 by 10.60%, but at 12 weeks there was a decrease of damage to hepatic histology on K3 = 6,30% and P3 7.93%, then at week 16 there was a decreases of hepatic histology damage in K4 = 6.15% and P4 = 6.66% so that the statistical to result of histology hepar damage did not showed significant change (p>0.05).
