The rapid development of information technology is affecting human life, so that
requires a high- quality of human resource. The education sector is the one that had
the effect of information technology development and plays an important role for
preparing qualified human resources. The use of information technology can be used
to monitor of students' academic performance or achievements continuously and
accurately, yet the monitoring of academic achievement is still done manually. Then
this thesis invented an automated system for classifying academic achievement using
the C5.0. In this thesis explains about how to the C5.0 classify of academic
achievement accurately. The data in this study was taken from database student of
faculty of Mathematics and Science, University of North Sumatera. The result of this
study are a desktop-based system to classification academic student achievment using
Delphi 7.0 programming language and interbase database and showed that the
classification of academic achievement produced more accurate.
