dc.description.abstractPotential analysis and strategy of beef cattle rearing development in oil palm estate to promote regional economic development of Simalungun regency by Sayed Umar supervised by Prof. Dr.Ir. Zulkifii Lubis MA.pp.Sc. as chairmen of dissertation committee, Prof. Dr. Ir. Zalfikar Siregar, MP. Dr. Ir. Rahmanta Ginting, MSI, as members of the committee Resources from animal husbandry are some of artificial resources that have Impotant role in regional economie development. The pattern of integrated oil palm and beef cattle development still under optimize due to under develop of feed technology from oil palm estate wastes and by products asa substitute to greenery feeding The objective of this study ware : 2). To analyse the income of beef cattle famer reared at the oil palm estate area, b.) To test the effect of beef cattle price feed cost, medicine, cattle house cost and wages on the income of beef cattle farmer. ¢). To analyse the potential support of oil palm estate Wastes and by products as a source of feed in developing beef cattle rearing 4). To study the strategy in developing of beef cattle rearing in oil palm estate in promoting regional development, and e). To calculate the contribution of the beef cattle farming subsector on the Income of family, Income per capita, and gross regional domestic income of beef cattle farmer in Simalungun regency A simple random sampling was applied to take 150 respondents. The data were then analysed using multiple lnier regression, NPV, Net BIC rato, feeding potential support, SWOT analysis and share analysis. Results showed that a) Partially, the t-values of the cost of feed, medicine and wages (-1.786; 1.796 and 2.437 respectively) were higher than the 5% table (1,65) that means that they had significant effect on the beef cattle farmer Income, while the cost of beef cattle and cattle house (t-values of 0,771 and 0,240) were less than 5% (-table (1,65) which had no significant effect. The F-value was higher than the F-table. b). The mean of NPV value of beef cattle farming was Rp 11. 390.028,53 and the net B/C ratio was 1,436. {The potential support of oil palm estate wastes and by product were good exough to the develop the beef cattle farming. d). The beef cattle farming strategy under oil palm estate were: Estates wastes based feed industry, beef cattle breeding, beef cattle fattening and product processing and maketing Industri. e). The contribution of beef cattle farming sector on the family Income was significant enough (68,06%)en_US
