Abstract

Soaps are alkali metal salts (usually sodium salts) of fatty acids, soaps containing mainly C16 and C18 salts, but may also contain some carboxylates with lower atomic weights. The purpose of this test is to know the free fatty acid content of SN 8020 soap In PT SOCI MAS. The determination of free fatty acid content is performed according to acid-base titration method according to the procedure and tool used in PT.SOCI MAS laboratory. The result of free fatty acid test on SN 8020 soap with acid-base titration method, Free fatty acid at SN 8020 is 0.66- 0.72% .So from the results of free fatty acid analysis still meets the quality standards that have been specified by PT. SOCI MAS is the maximum limit of 1.3%.
