Abstract

Eucalyptus Oil (Melaleuca leucadendra) has been tested by colours, smell, density, refractive index, optical rotation, and solubility in 70% ethanol at UPT. Pengujian dan Sertifikasi Mutu Barang Medan. This research is conducted at laboratory of essential oils by testing the quality of eucalyptus oil (Melaleuca leucadendra). Some testing parameters such as colour, smell, density, refractive index, optical rotation, and solubility in 70% ethanol have been included in that research. The results obtained from that testing are greenish yellow in eucalyptus oil (Melaleuca leucadendra), a spesific smell of eucalyptus oil, density of 0,914, refractive index of 1,453, optical rotation of (-) 40 Keyword : Eucalyptus Oil (Melaleuca leucadendra), physical characteristics, quality Eucalyptus Oil. , and solubility in 70% ethanol of 1:1. Those data proved that eucalyptus oil (Melaleuca leucadendra) that was tested fulfill the National specification requirement quality Standard of Indonesia 06-3954-2006.
