The effect of HCl addition and pH in the pulp bleaching process in the D0 tower aims to determine the amount of usage HCl solution and optimum pH in raising the degree of white on chlorination stage. Pulp mixed with ClO2 then injected HCl 36% and then mixed until pH reached 1-2. Decrease pH done so that ClO2 can work optimally in removing lignin by oxidation and substitution reaction. From the calculations, the optimal amount of usage HCl is 18,67 L/Ton to reach 70% pulp brightness according to the standard ISO. HCl effect and pH at chlorination stage was that the higher the addition of HCl and the lower pH, the chlorin dioxide will work optimally and pulp brightness will be higher.en_US
