dc.description.abstract | The investigation on the response of composite material parking bumper polymeric
foam reinforced of oil palm empty fruit bunch fiber (EFB) has done by using static
compressive load, free-fall impact experimental method, and numerical simulation.
The experimentation was conducted to obtain the stress, strain, and impact force on
the parking bumper structure with a trapezoidal-shaped on the upper side and on the
inclined side of parking bumper. The specimen size and penetration diameter on the
static compressive load have been adapted to the laboratory scale, whereas in free fall impact experimental load, specimen size and test rig dimension have been
adjusted to the width of the wheels. The experimental data were provided for ANSYS
software to calculate the response according to initial and boundary condition. The
testing result showed that the stress and strain due to static compressive load, on the
upper side are 1.04 MPa and 0.072, respectively; on the inclined side they reached
up to 0.273 MPa and 0.003, respectively. The results of simulation showed that the
stress and strain on th£ upper side are 0. 759 MPa, and 0.083, respectively; on the
inclined side they reached up to 0.246 MPa and 0.026, respectively. The force and
stress induced at the impacted area using free-fall impact apparatus on the upper
side are 59.46 N and 0.0067 MPa, respectively; on the inclined side they reached up
to 49.54 N and 0.00423 MPa, respectively. The stress and strain for numerical
simulation on the upper side are 2.271 MPa and 0.0078, respectively; on the inclined
side they reached up to 1.167 MP a and 0. 0040, respectively. | en_US |
