A three-phase induction motor is the main drive for machines in the industrial world.
]his is due to an induction's motor have some advantages, but it still has to be
considered in using this application since its speed control ,SJJstem is highly
influenced by its efficiency. For the most part, the device used as the speed control qf
the three-phase induction motor rotation is Variable Speed Drive (VSD) which is a
non-linear load 1he use of non-linear load will yield current wave and distorted
sinusoidal pressure. From measurement data, the using MATLAB!Simulink program
with a LC.filter connected in parallel to the circuit, it was found that harmonics order
which is not in line with standard IEC61000-3-2 Class D Filter. }'ram the result ~f
the simulation, it was obtained that LC filter with C value= 15 µF and L .~ 0.28H
can decrease the total ~f harmonics distortion (THD) to become smaller (7HDi
decreasesfi'om 3.5% to 0.46% or reduces 3,04%, and THDi decreases.from 102.9%
to 35.39%, or reduces up to 86,73%). This indicates that LC jilter can he used to
reduce harmonics current in the Variable Speed Drive.
