    Abstract
Coconut shell powder is an ingredient that material much buried and tend to be relatively small because of their utilization. Seeing the potential of coconut shell that not yet been up to, writers interested in researching the use of coconut shell powder as a filler in the making of paving blocks with coal fly ash adhesive aim of this study was to investigate the characteristics of paving block with the addition of coconut shell powder and fly ash stone. Paving block meant in this analysis had two phases, first phase of a mixture of cement, fly ash, sand, and water. Variables in this block paving are composition of fly ash: cement= 0%: 100%; 10%: 90%, 20%: 80%, 30%: 70%, 40%: 600/4, 500/4: 50%. Characteristics are taken. From the optimum value of the two cements: fly ash = 80%: 20% and 70%: 30%. The second phase of a mixture of cement, fly ash, sand, coconut shell powder and water. The variables of this block paving is a coconut shell powder composition to the weight of the sand: 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%. With the composition of cement: fly ash = 80%: 20% and 70%: 30%. This second phase of paving block are researched and, in the can, optimum characteristics of the cement composition of 80%, 20% fly ash, coconut shell powder 15% by weight of sand we can have measurement results: density = 1,81 gr/cm3, · water Absorbtion = 8,86%; compressive Strength = 8,62MPa; Flexural Strength = 2,15 MPa; hardness= 66,2 I-IR. And also, from the test conducted of the shell powder of coconut as the filler material for, we can get the optimum composition of the cement mixture 70%, fly ash 30%, shell powder of coconut 10% by weight of sand is the result of measurement: density = 1,93 gr/cm 3 ; water absorption = 7,11%; compressive Strength = 8,82 MPa; Flexural Strength = 2,55 MPa; hardness= 63,8 HR. The quality of the classroom block paving Type Dis be used for parks, based on SN! - 3 - 0691 - 1996 class quality Dis be used/or park with compressive Strength 8,5 MPa-10 MPa. The result of using optical microscope showed coconut shell powder granules yellowish and brownish colored granules fly ash.
