| dc.description.abstract | This research was conducted to know the quality and quantity of biogas that
was made from solid and liquid wastes of tapioca industry in a batch anaerobic
digester and evaluate economic potential of biogas from that mixture. The
materials for this research were solid and liquid wastes from tapioca industry with
starter of solid waste from cattle and water that mixed together. Variables for
these are volume of biogas, Total Suspended Solid (TSS) and Chemical Oxygen
Demand (COD) which analized every 3 days at fermentation time. Then the pH
was kept constant in the range of 6-7 by using a solution of lime and observed the
flame test of biogas. The research began by mixing the solid and liquid wastes
from tapioca industry at ratio 70:30; 60:40; 50:50; 40:60 and 30:70 (w/w) with
starter of solid waste from cattle in a batch anaerobic digester, then the volume of
biogas that produced was observed and analized TSS and COD of slurry. The
optimum volume of biogas was at 33rd day in weight composition of solid and
liquid wastes 70:30 that obtained 193,617 L of biogas for 225 kg waste. The
highest percentage reduction of TSS and COD were 76,2289% and 28,5714% at
the same weight ratio. Economic potential from mixture of solid and liquid wastes
of tapioca industry is not promising. | en_US |
