    Pengaruh Suhu Vulkanisasi pada Pembuatan Produk Film Lateks Karet Alam Berpengisi Tepung Kulit Singkong Termodifikasi Penyerasi Alkanolamida

    Abstract
    Cassava peel is a waste by-product that contains cellulose which was potential to be used as fillers in natural rubber latex products. The study on the effect of drying temperature and alkanolamide compositon on the mechanical properties of natural rubber latex products was done in order to obtain the optimum drying temperature and alkanolamide composition in producing crosslink density and mechanical properties such as tensile strength, elongation at break, and tensile modulus. Natural rubber latex was produced by using coagulant dipping method. Natural rubber latex was filled with cassava peel waste powder and alkanolamide with composition 0; 0,5; 1,0; 1,5; 2,0; 2,5% wt. The manufacture of natural rubber latex products was started by pre-vulcanization process at 70°C and followed with vulcanization process at 100°C and 120°C for 20 minutes. The result of FTIR characterization showed that alkanolamide as compatibilizer has polar group which can modified cassava peel waste and non-polar group which can modified the natural rubber latex. The results of mechanical properties showed that higher drying temperature will improved the crosslink reaction which was shown from the mechanical properties at 120°C were higher than the mechanical properties at 100°C. Meanwhile, alkanolamide was a substance that can be used as co-curing agent in natural rubber latex which was proven from the improvement of crosslink density until the addition of 1% alkanolamide. The results of mechanical properties were supported by Scanning Electron Microscopy which showed smooth surface and some matrix tearing on the morphology of natural rubber latex products with the addition of 1% alkanolamide.
