| dc.description.abstract | Transesterification is a process of making an environmentally friendly fuel that is made by reacting oil or fat with alcohol utilize with acid or base catalysts which will form esters and glycerol. This study was aimed to test the potency and effectiveness of Deep Eutectic Solvent (DES) based choline chloride : ethylene glycol as co-solvent in biodiesel synthesis through ethanolysis reaction using palm oil feedstock. DES synthesis process is conducted by mixing choline chloride : ethylene glycol 1: 2 (mol / mol) ratio into erlenmeyer and heated at 80 °C temperature with 300 rpm stirring speed for 60 minutes. DES concentration variation used by 1; 2; 3; 4; 5 and 6% wt oil. Best results yield 81,72% with 99,35% ethyl ester content was obtained at molar ratio of ethanol:oil : 9:1, amount of DES 4% oil wt, 0,75% catalyst, 70 °C reaction temperature, 600 rpm stirring speed and 60 minutes reaction time. | en_US |
