The idea of this research is to investigate adsorption capacity of corn stalk
with different shapes to adsorp cadmium ion (Cd2+) 50 ppm dissolving in the
solution on pH 4,5. The corn stalk variation shapes are square, half square,
quarter square, 50 mesh and 70 mesh. Different shapes use to adsorp is 150,
220, and 250 rpm. This research consist of two main steps such as, pre treatment and batch adsorption to determine adsorption capacity and modeling
of adsorption kinetic. The influence of the size of the corn stalks significantly
affect the adsorption capacity of corn stalks with a rise of 60.89%, 67.45%,
79.95%, 80.75% and 85.00% for a round shape, ½ round, ¼ round, 50 mesh
and 70 mesh respectivly for 2 hours adsorption operation. The effect of
variation of stirring also able to increase the adsorption capacity but not too
big. Adsorption kinetics model indicates adsorption occurs chemically. Models
indicate that the adsorption kinetics of diffusion of metal ions adsorbed to the
pores of the adsorbent. This shows that the adsorption capacity of corn stalks
has potential as an adsorbent to absorb metal ions in solution
