Ekstraksi Minyak dari Biji Kurma (Phoenix dactylifera L.) dengan Metode Soxhlet Extraction dengan Menggunakan Etil Asetat
Abstract
Date seed is a waste generated from many industrial commodities such as date gist
industry. Date seed oil has been used as a substitute of vegetable oils in the
manufacture of body creams, shampoos , and soaps. Soxhlet is used to obtain the
oil from date seed by using several solvent such as: petroleum ether, methanol and
n-hexane. In this research, date seed as raw material by using a solvent ethyl
acetate . The variables studied were the time of extraction and the ratio date seed
to solvent . The results showed that the highest fatty acid composition of date seed
oil was oleic acid 37,22 % and followed by lauric acid 19,36 %. Iodine value of
date seed oil was 15,85 mg / g. Peroxide value of date seed oil was 261,66 meq /
kg oil. Specific gravity of date seed oil was 0,80. Free fatty acid content of date
seed oil was 3,38 %. The highest oil content obtained in the extraction time 2
hours with the ratio date seed to solvent = 1 : 6. The oil content was obtained
18,90%. From the result at this research showed that date seed oil was not
fulfilled standard for the edible oil.
