“Pengaruh Pemberian Ekstrak Buah Lada Hitam (Piper nigrum L.) terhadap Pigmen Melanin Kulit Mencit (Mus Musculus L.) Hitam Model Vitiligo
Abstract
Black pepper fruit contains piperine compounds which may be responsible
for producing skin pigmentation. This study aims to determine the effect of using blackpepper
fruit extract on the extent of vitiligo, percent repigmentation and the amount of
melanin pigment. This study used 25 black mice (Mus musculus L.) as test animals.
Black mice used monobenzone to make animal models of vitiligo. This study used a
completely randomized design method (CRD) consisting of 5 treatment groups, namely
K- (administration of monobenzone), K+ (administration of monobenzone and
commercial ointment), P1 (administration of monobenzone and black-pepper fruit
extract 25%), P2 (administration of monobenzone and black-pepper fruit extract
50%), and P3 (administration of monobenzone and black-pepper fruit extract 75%).
Observations in this study were carried out visually and histologically. The results
showed that the administration of black-pepper fruit extract with a concentration of
75% was the best in reducing the area of vitiligo, increasing the percentage of
repigmentation and the amount of melanin pigment with a vitiligo area of 0.118 cm2,
the percentage of repigmentation of 75.34% and the amount of melanin pigment as
much as 512.16, melanin pigment all of which were characterized by the presence of
pigmentation spots.
