    Abstract
This thesis entitled Chants of Ende and the Song Books Yamuger congregation in worship Sunday at Three HKBP Church in North Sumatra: Continuity, Change, Structure of Music and Text. This study used qualitative methods with participatory observation, and the author acting as observers involved (participant observer). To assess the continuity and change of use singkronik theory and diachronic history. Onwards to examine the structure of the music used some theory antarnya weighted scale, rhythm, and musical relationship with the text. To examine the text used semiotic theory. This study resulted in the following findings. Continuity and change in BE and KJY an integral part of church music. BE beginning of the 1850s with 9 songs, then the number of songs continued to increase over time. 1923 Merwaal edit 53 congregational singing forerunner Books Ende. Finally in 1980 dicetaklah BE by Printing HKBP Pematangsiantar. Later developed into BE SDJ (Buku Ende SANGAP In Jahova). While KJY developed from hymns of the church throughout the church in Indonesia, starting from the workshop in 1975 in Jakarta. Then was issued in 1984 which consists of 117 works by the creator of spiritual songs and hymns of the church congregation. Furthermore, BE musical structures and KJY generally bertangga major scale with meter 3/4, 6/8, and 4/4, ambitus about one octave, to realize the level of easy, medium, hard up. Onwards from the text, there are some good singing from BE, KJ HKBP, and KJY anyone has a theme and melody the same text. The origins of the song texts and melodies are of songs-agu German Protestant church, which is then translated into the language Batak (BE) and Indonesian (KJY). On the other hand there are also a direct translation into KJ BE HKBP. There perbedan-difference both etymological and semantic meaning between three types of this song. In the context of sosioreligius, Batak language is already very fulfilled become a language of choice of religion in worship, from the view Bourdieu a preferred language of religion can strengthen social sentiment that causes religious emotions and moods achievement of the congregation. Among young people above phenomenon is true, but not in all places or locations of supporters, so that doubts will be loyalty to book Ende began to doubt not be a latent danger. Sentiment societal causes still considered strong religious emotion, but it is expected the need for a system that will become the benchmark for its existence can stay awake.
