    Abstract
Culture is an aspect that can never be separated from human life. Culture for Japanese people is something that cannot be separated from everyday life. Culture in Japan includes native culture and influences from outside Japan. Enjokousai (援助交際) or in English "compensated dating" which is defined as assisted dating is an illegal prostitution that is mostly carried out by young women in Japan with an age range of 12-20 years with the aim of getting financial assistance and buying luxury goods. Recently, Enjokousai has shifted from its literal meaning, namely associating with (financial) assistance, to become a phenomenon of prostitution by high school students where the consumers of young women are dominated by older men with an age range of 40-50 years. The research aims to find out what are the reasons for young women doing enjokousai and what forms of enjokousai they do. This research method uses library methods and observation methods from four video interviews of enjokousai actors from the YouTube platform. The results of the research show that the perpetrators commit enjokousai due to the high financial need to provide for the perpetrator's personal life and pleasures, the relationship between parents and others is not getting along and is ostracized from the surrounding community. The forms of enjokousai carried out by the perpetrators were giving souvenirs, taking walks, and having sex. The author's hope for this thesis is that it can be useful in further writing related to enjokousai
