.The foundation is part of an engineering system that transmits the loads
supported by the foundation and its own weight into the soil and rock beneath it. The pile
foundation is a type of deep foundation that is widely used. In designing deep foundations using
piles, there are several analytical methods to determine the bearing capacity of deep foundations.
The research location of this study is in the Binjai-Langsa Toll Road Development
Project, Binjai Section – Pangkalan Brandan STA 30+538 UB Besilam 3. The purpose of this
final project is to calculate and compare the axial bearing capacity of a single pile from SPT data
using the Meyerhoff method , PDA data and with Finite Element Method. As for the
calculation of lateral bearing capacity using the Broms method. and calculate the elastic
decrease that occurs. The data was obtained from PT. Hutama Karya.
Based on the calculation of the axial bearing capacity of a single pile with a diameter of 60cm in
borehole 51R with a depth of 20.45m, SPT data obtained using the Meyerhof method = 920.79 Tons,
with the ENR method obtained a Qu value of
= 1,425.77 Tons, with the Hilley method obtained = 1,766.74 Tons, and the Danish method obtained =
771.59 Tons, and with the plaxis program = 418.11 Tons. While the calculation of the lateral
bearing capacity of a single pile using the Broms method results obtained analytically
= 57.94 tons, graphically = 60.594 tons. Settlement of a single pile with the Poulos
Davis method = 1.33 mm, elastic settlement of a single pile = 23.30 mm, settlement of pile
groups = 78,15 mm and settlement with the plaxis program = 18.71 mm. Differences in carrying
capacity and settlement can be caused by differences in soil types, methods of carrying out tests
that depend on the accuracy of the operator and differences in the parameters
used in the calculations.
