    Abstract
Medan Helvetia Subdistrict is located in the western region of Medan City and is traversed by the watershed, Badera river. The Medan Helvetia area has a minimal rainwater catchment area, so runoff water from rain is only focused on flowing into rivers. The drainage system in Medan Helvetia area is still focused on flowing runoff water into the river and there has been no effort to make runoff water re-enter to the ground. It is important to know the infiltration value in order to strive for runoff water back into the soil. To determine the value of soil infiltration, a Double Ring Infiltrometer tool is used and one of the methods of calculating the infiltration rate value that can be used is the Horton method. By knowing the infiltration value, we can find out the capacity of soil in Medan Helvetia area in absorbing water and thus we can strive for an eco-drainage system in Medan Helvetia area. The largest infiltration capacity at point 3 with an infiltration capacity of 497.45 mm / hour and the smallest infiltration capacity at point 5 with an infiltration capacity of 169.71 mm / hour. The range of infiltration rate values in Medan Helvetia sub-district is 13-55 mm/hour and for the infiltration capacity value range is 170-497 mm/hour and belongs to the category of slow and moderate infiltration rate. Medan Helvetia District needs to make efforts to create an eco-drainage system because it has low infiltration rate and capacity. However, the suitable eco-drainage system method in this area needs to be further analyzed because this area is less effective for conservation ponds and well-preserved wells to be created.
