The finding of TBC (tuberculosis) constitutes one of the early initiatives to
anticipate the development of mortality rate caused by lung tubercutlosis in which,
according to the result of the SIKRZ (family health survey) ii 2008, tuberculosis has
caused the first largest number of death tn the infecting group. Some factors which
inJluence the success in finding of the coses are motivatioi and thi capabitity of
interpers onal communic ation among he alth workers
The type of the research was obser-pational analysis with cross sectional
approach.- The research was conducted at 34 Puskesmas (public health center) in
Simalungun District from August until November 20t2. The population was all
village midtvives who worked at 34 Puskesmas in Simalungun Dttiritt. The samples
comprised 186 midwives in groups that achieved the target and did not achieve the
target offinding the cases of BTA (+) lung tuberculosis.
The data were gathered by using questionnaires, documentary study, and
observation and processed by using bivatriate test and multivatriate test.
The result of the research showed that the finding of lung tuberculosis cases in Simalungun District was significontly correlated with motivation as it was
indicated by the third sub-variobles of motivation (the correlation between superiors
and subordinates, welfare system, and work environment with the value of p < 0.05.
The /inding of the cases of lung tuberculosis in Simalungun District was iignificantly
correlated with interpersonal communication as it was indicated by the sicind sub-
voriables of interpersonal communication (supportive and alikeneis) with the value
of p < 0.05. Based on the multivatriate onalysis, the factor whtch signiJicantly
in/luenced the achievement of /inding the cases of lung iuberculosis ln Similangun
District in 2012 was the system of welfare, thot it, 57,4 fimes between 1,392 (the
lowest limit) and l9|l,7times (the highest limit). It is recommended that the
Simalungun District Administration should increase motivation and competence in
interpersonal communication of village midwives so that their performance will
increase, especially in finding the cases of lung tuberculosis
